The Waterhen Bloa is one of the most recognisable of all the North Country flies. It is a simple but effective imitation of the early season Large Dark Olive. Although, when dressed in smaller sizes it covers a host of other olive species found on the river throughout the season.
I'm not sure where I came across this pattern but I believe it originated from the Czech Republic. It might look very simple but it works well. I use this as a general searching pattern, terrestrial or small sedge. The fly is very buoyant and so can support a lightly weighted nymph Available in sizes 12,14,16,18
Tied to represent the Large Dark Olive (LDO) or March Brown. The jingler is one of the best early season dry flies and essential for ever river anglers box.
