Black Magic Spider (Variant)
The Black Magic Spider, from Frederick Mould’s ‘Presenting the Fly to the Trout’ (1967). This fly has been a firm favourite for anglers wishing to imitate small terrestrials. This is a variant of that famous North Country Fly incorporating a small red rib and dubbing in place of peacock herl.
This pattern can also be treated with floatant and fished in the water film to smutting fish.
